Ferrucci Named SEC Male Diver of the Week
Nov. 1, 2011
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sophomore Greg Ferrucci was named Southeastern Conference Male Diver of the Week after posting a school-record score of 387.37 and taking home first place in the one-meter diving competition this weekend, the league office announced Tuesday evening.
"Greg turned in a great performance," UK diving head coach Ted Hautau said. "I did not expect those performances at this point in the season. He was a bit rusty the week before at Tennessee, but bounced back and had a great week of practice leading up to Nashville."
The reigning SEC Male Freshman Diver of the Year also had a career-best performance in the three-meter competition, earning a score of 405.07, pacing Kentucky to a 1-2-3 finish in the three-meter competition.
The Huntersville, N.C. native is the first Wildcat to earn a weekly award from the league office in the 2011-12 season.
Kentucky will host Southern Illinois and Missouri on Saturday morning at the Lancaster Aquatic Center with the first race beginning at 10:00 a.m. Fans should check UKAthletics.com for updated parking information about this weekend’s meet, as many lots will be inaccessible due to the football game.
