Winsor Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Freshman swimmer Trina Winsor was named the Southeastern Conference's Freshman of the Week it was announced Tuesday. This marks the second such honor this season for the freshman from Granite Bay, Calif.
Winsor was instrumental in helping the Wildcats to victories over Cincinnati and Vanderbilt in their final dual meet action of the season.
She captured individual victories in three events in the victories and was the only UK swimmer to achieve that feat. Her victory in the 400-individual medley and time of 4:25.01 marked the sixth-best time in school history in the event. She also went on to claim wins in the 200 and 500-free events.
Her breakthrough through in to the school's all-time top-10 list in the 400-IM this week marks the fourth event this season she has cracked into the all-time charts. Winsor also is among the all-time leaders in the 500, 1000 and 1650-freestyle events.
This marks the fifth weekly honor of the season for the Wildcats. Winsor had previously earned Freshman of the Week honors, while Chatham Penrod, Eric McGinnis and Tyler Reed have all been named SEC Swimmers of the Week.
