Tom Csenge Named Shooter of the Match

Nov. 25, 2008

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky junior All-American Tom Csenge has been selected as the Kentucky rifle Shooter of the Match, it was announced by head coach Harry Mullins.

“Tom had an outstanding performance this weekend,” Mullins detailed. “He had a 199 in prone smallbore and is beginning to break 580s in smallbore and that is going to build his confidence. He has been working hard at trying to raise his smallbore numbers and he remains one of the best shooters in the nation.”

Csenge, a native of Keene, N.H., was a two-time All-American in 2007-08, while leading the Wildcats to a fifth-place finish in 2007-08. Csenge tallied a match-high 1169, with a solid 589 in air rifle and a 580 in smallbore – highlighted by a 199 in prone.

“If he keeps working as hard as he has been, we will really see some solid numbers from him in the spring time,” Mullins said. “I am excited for him that he has been able to put together some solid scores in the last few matches and especially for him to put up solid scores at TCU because that is where the NCAA Championships will be held this year.”

Kentucky (8-1) returns to action in the spring, with a Jan. 17 match with Murray State at UK’s Barker Hall.
