LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Trailing by three in the bottom of the seventh, Kentucky rallied with seven runs to take a lead and post an 8-4 win over Cincinnati, on a perfect Tuesday evening at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Kentucky (8-3) faced a hole for the second consecutive game, as Cincinnati erased an early 1-0 UK lead with two in the fourth and two in the seventh to take a 4-1 lead. UK then mounted a furious rally in the seventh inning, sparked by a pair of leadoff walks, to score seven runs and take an 8-4 lead into the eighth.

The Wildcats got another three-hit game from sophomore Evan White, who drove in three RBI and after a two-RBI single in the seventh, White had all three of UK’s hits. Gunnar McNeill also added a three-RBI double, with Riley Mahan adding a RBI hit to tie the game in the seventh. Storm Wilson and JaVon Shelby each got hit by a pitch and drew walks, with Tristan Pompey adding a sac fly, a walk and an HBP.

UK starter Zach Logue worked 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out three. UK used Bo Wilson for an inning, with the senior allowing a pair of runs, Brad Schaenzer in a lefty matchup situation in the seventh inning and senior Zach Strecker in relief.  Strecker (2-0) worked 1.1 innings, allowing a pair of hits and striking out two for his second win of the year. Freshman Sean Hjelle struck out the side in the ninth inning, needing just 14 pitches to clinch the win.

Cincinnati (1-11) starter David Orndorff worked three innings without allowing an earned run, walking one and striking out one. Chris Gang then worked 1.2 shutout innings, before Jared Yoakem entered in the fifth inning. Yoakem (0-1) worked 1.2 innings, allowing five runs. UC also used Jack Bergren, Cameron Ross, Clayton Colvin and Colton Cleary.

Kentucky will return to action on Wednesday, hosting Murray State at 4 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Kentucky got on the board in the bottom of the third inning, as Tristan Pompey was hit by a pitch to leadoff, taking second on a throwing error. After a sacrifice bunt pushed Pompey to third, White hung a sacrifice fly to rightfield to score the first run of the game.

Cincinnati took the lead in the top of the fourth inning, as Woody Wallace smashed a two-run homer over the right-centerfield wall, scoring Connor McVey, who singled to open the frame.

UC scored a two-out tally in the seventh inning, as Kyle Mottice tripled with two outs, scoring on Manny Rodriguez’s RBI single. After a walk, McVey greeted Strecker with a two-out RBI single through the right side, with second baseman Luke Becker’s throw just missing the tag.

UK rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning, as Zach Reks and Pompey each drew walks to lead off and Squires replaced Reks with a misfired sacrifice bunt attempt, before Wilson loaded the bases with a walk. White then smashed his third hit of the game through the right side, scoring Pompey and Reks. After Shelby was hit by a pitch, Mahan singled into rightfield to score Wilson with the tying run. McNeill then cleared the bases with a three RBI double inside the third-base bag. After a pair of walks, Pompey then forced home McNeill with a sac fly for a four-run advantage.
