Passport Health Plan becomes sponsor of University of Kentucky’s “CATS in the Community” student-athlete service group
Lexington, Ky. – Passport Health Plan has signed on to be the presenting sponsor of the University of Kentucky “CATS in the Community” group of student-athletes who participate in community service events.
“CATS in the Community” offers student-athletes the opportunity to volunteer their time to help those in the community. During the 2014-15 academic year, student-athletes volunteered over 4,300 hours of their time to community service in addition to going to class, attending practice, studying, and traveling to tournaments.
“At Passport, we take pride in working with local providers and community advocates to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve,” said Passport Health Plan CEO Mark B. Carter. “That’s why this partnership with the UK CATS in the Community group of dedicated student-athletes just made perfect sense. Together, we can help all Kentuckians live healthier lives.”
“I’m honored to work with a first-class organization such as Passport Health Plan,” said Dustin Lewis, UK Life Skills Coordinator. “Passport is an industry leader and has always supported community-service initiatives in our state. Our student-athletes volunteer between 4,000 and 5,000 hours each year, so I’m excited that this partnership will recognize some deserving individuals who work hard to make this community a better place.”
If you have an organization and are interested in requesting some student-athlete volunteers to work with your group, please go online to catsacademics.com/services/community-outreach or send an email to Dustin Lewis at Dustin.Lewis@uky.edu.
