Musselman, Stallings Pace Wildcats on Day Two at Hootie

AWENDAW, S.C. – Led by even-par rounds from junior Stephen Stallings and sophomore Cooper Musselman, the Kentucky men’s golf team improved among a loaded field on day two and moved into a tie for 12th overall through 36 holes of action at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, S.C.

About the Lineup:

Stallings and Musselman led the way for the Wildcats with rounds of 72 on day two. Stallings posted three birdies on the afternoon including two on his back nine. He also began the day with a birdie on the par-five No. 10 which served as his round’s opening hole. Following 36 holes of action, Stallings is in a tie for 40th overall on the individual leaderboard. 

Musselman enjoyed a steady round of play with three birdies on the day. He has now posted a team-high nine rounds of par or better golf during spring action.  Musselman is tied for 61st after two rounds of play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay. 

Senior David Snyder continues to lead the Wildcats on the individual leaderboard following a second round score of 73. His 1-over round included two birdies on holes No. 2 and No. 4. Snyder is tied for 25th overall among all players.

Freshman Lukas Euler is tied for 50th overall following a round of 75 on day two. Euler also birdied the par-five No. 4. Sophomore Tyler ‘Chip’ McDaniel is tied for 72nd after turning in a round of 78 on day two. 

The Tournament Field:

No. 16 South Carolina has moved up the leaderboard to take over the No. 1 spot following a 4-under round on Monday. The Gamecocks own an eight-shot lead over 10th-ranked Wake Forest. College of Charleston owns third place heading into the final round of play on Tuesday.

Rounding out the top five include No. 8 Auburn and Charleston Southern. Both teams are just one stroke off of College of Charleston’s pace.

UK is tied for 12th with Wisconsin and Maryland. The Wildcats are just five strokes back of breaking into the top 10 of the field.  

About the course:

Bulls Bay Golf Club has been home to the Hootie Intercollegiate again this year. The picturesque course has played host to the Hootie Intercollegiate since its start in 2004. Kentucky returned to the tournament for the 12th consecutive season after finishing in a tie for 12th in 2015.

Players will tee off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET on Tuesday for the final 18 holes of play. Teams are paired based on the results of the first two rounds. Fans can follow along with the action on
