Kunc 33rd at NCAA XC Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Kentucky junior Katy Kunc placed 33rd in a 6,000-meter time of 20:20.30 at the 2016 NCAA Cross Country Championships, Saturday.

Kunc finished with an all-important top-40 place, meeting the prerequisite to earn All-America honors.

She qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career, and as such will be a first-time All-America.

Jacob Thomson finished 78th in 30:45.00. He was 42nd, a year ago at NCAAs.

The Wildcats concluded the 2016 season, Saturday.

The UK women's team finished one point shy of making NCAAs via a third-place finish at NCAA Southeast Regionals.

The UK men's team was fifth at regionals, and third at SECs -- their best finish since 1992.
