Team Records and Series Notes

    UK suffered its first home loss of the season, falling to No. 2/2 South Carolina, 73-62
    With the loss, UK moves to 13-2 on the season, and 2-2 in Southeastern Conference play.
    The Gamecocks retain their unblemished record, advancing to 16-0 and 4-0 in SEC action.
    The meeting was the 56th meeting between the two teams, with the loss moving UK to 33-23 in the all-time series.    
    Matthew Mitchell is in his ninth season with Kentucky and the loss moves him to 237-112 overall, including a 207-83 record while at Kentucky.
 

Team Notes

    Kentucky had its second lowest shooting performance of the season, going 24-of-64 from the field for a .375 clip.
    The Wildcats held the advantage in the paint until the final quarter, but were eventually outscored 28-34. 
    The Wildcats shot 61.1% from the free throw line, the second lowest percentage from the charity stripe this season.  
    UK held the advantage in fast-break points, scoring 12 while holding South Carolina to 0.  
    Kentucky was outrebounded 44-43 and had 13 turnovers compared to USC’s 11 miscues.  
    The Wildcats started the first period on an 11-3 run throughout the first 5:27, holding USC to just one field goal in that time.  
    UK held South Carolina to 18.8% from the field in the opening period, and their 8 points were the fewest in a period this season.
    Kentucky led at the end of the first period, 16-8.  
    The Gamecocks made a run in the second period, closing in on UK’s 32-28 advantage by halftime.  It was just the third time this season that USC had trailed at the half. 
    At the half, Kentucky held a 24-14 edge in the paint and outrebounded South Carolina, 24-22.  
    South Carolina took over the lead with 1:18 to play in the third period, 49-48.
    The Gamecocks retained the lead going into the fourth period, 51-50.  
    South Carolina went on to outscore the Wildcats 22-12 in the final period.  
    UK was held without a field goal from the 7:26 mark to the 1:40 mark in the fourth period. During that time, USC went on a 12-0 run.  
 

Individual Notes

    Janee Thompson posted 16 points in the loss to go with four assists and four rebounds.
    Makayla Epps also chipped in 16 points, along with three assists and a block.
    Batouly Camara led the team on the glass, with a career-best 10 rebounds to go with seven points.  
    The game broke Alexis Jennings’ streak of double-doubles in conference play, as she posted eight points and six rebounds.
