Social Media Options to Follow the Wildcats

LEXINGTON, Ky. – With the launching of the new website, UK Athletics has made it easier than ever to find out all the ways to find Kentucky athletics in the social media world. Fans can simply go to the “Social Media” tab at the top of the page where they will be able to click on any of the various sport-specific Facebook and Twitter pages that UK Athletics offers.

Kentucky, thanks to its passionate fan base, ranks near the top of many Twitter rankings. UK men’s basketball head coach John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari), for example, is tops among men’s college basketball coaches in the country. Football head coach Joker Phillips (@jokerphillips) and women’s basketball head coach Matthew Mitchell (@UKCoachMitchell) are each No. 2 in the Southeastern Conference among football and women’s basketball head coaches, respectively.

UK is also one of just five athletic departments in the nation with over 20,000 followers on its official Twitter account (@UKAthleticsNews).

With over 500,000 fans, UK's official Facebook page ( is among the most popular of any college team in America.

Also under the social media tab is a link to the UK Interactive website. This website was launched in 2010 and is intended to bring the fans even closer to their favorite sports and teams. Each sport’s page has great video as well as eye-opening pictures.

Fans can also sign up for Wildcat Text Alerts by clicking on its link under the social media tab. With Wildcat Text Alerts, fans can receive text messages sent straight to their phone with score updates or breaking news for only the sport they have selected.

Fans interested in watching videos from their favorite UK teams can do so by clicking on the “videos” tab on the front page of UKTube, the home of UK athletics videos, houses many videos from each sport and is updated daily.
