Follow the Wildcats on Twitter and Facebook

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Kentucky Wildcats will never be out of your reach.

The University of Kentucky Athletics Department has joined the latest Internet craze and created its own Twitter account. With the launch of UK's official Twitter account, UKAAWildcats, fans and media alike can receive instant updates, or "tweets," on their favorite UK sports on the Internet or on their mobile phone.

Fans and media can go to to follow UK's Twitter account. Users must create an account to join. Once logged in, fans have the choice of following other users, and they can activate their mobile devices to receive "tweets" as other users, including UK's account, post them.

Twitter is a free service that lets users keep in touch with people through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

Now if fans or media want to know what UK is doing while they are at home, at work or on the go, UK will be right at their fingertips.

UK has also launched a Facebook fan page for fans to join. The fan page, "Kentucky Wildcats," will provide fans with recent news, links and the chance to network with other Wildcat fans and Facebook friends. The group will also feature a "wall" for fans to post comments on. All comments will be moderated and are subject to deletion.

Fans and media can join the Facebook page by clicking on the link above or by logging on to and typing in "Kentucky Wildcats" into the search engine. Fans and media must have a Facebook account to join.

Facebook is a social networking Web site that is organized by city, workplace and region to connect and interact users with other people.

There are many Facebook fan pages, groups and Twitter accounts dedicated to following the Kentucky Wildcats, but the ones listed above are the only Facebook and Twitter entities that are officially sanctioned by the University of Kentucky Athletics Department.
