Kentucky Drops Home Contest to Ole Miss on Thursday

Amiya Jenkins and Saniah Tyler each scored 10 points but the Kentucky women’s basketball team lost to Ole Miss 75-45 on Thursday night at Rupp Arena.

Ole Miss scored the first four points of the game before UK got an Amiya Jenkins free throw to make it 4-1 early. The Rebels extended their lead to 8-1 before Kentucky got a Petty layup to cut it to 8-3. The Cats struggled from the floor in the first quarter, making just two of 14 shots and Ole Miss led 20-7 after 10 minutes of action.

The Rebels opened the second half with a 6-2 run before Saniah Tyler hit a three to make it 26-12. Ole Miss stretched the lead to 32-13 before Kentucky got another Tyler basket and an Eniya Russell layup, cutting the deficit to 32-17. However, Ole Miss would lead 37-22 at the half.

In the third quarter, Kentucky scored first on a Jenkins jumper and a Petty layup to make it 37-26. However, the Rebels would pull away, using a 17-0 run to close the period with a 60-32 lead.

Tyler hit a three to start the fourth quarter for the Cats. However, the Rebels scored the next five points to extend the lead to 65-35. Ole Miss would lead by as many as 32 points before settling for the 30-point win.

Kentucky returns to action on Sunday, closing out the regular season by facing defending national champion LSU in Baton Rouge. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on the SEC Network.
