UK’s Clean Sheet in Second Half Proves Resilience on The Plains

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s soccer team kept one of the best offenses in the Southeastern Conference off the board in the second half – as Evangeline Soucie made three saves in Sunday’s SEC showdown on The Plains.

The Tigers, now undefeated in SEC play, knocked off the Wildcats 3-0 at the Auburn Soccer Complex in unseasonably hot and humid conditions thanks to three first-half goals.

Kentucky will continue SEC play on Friday at the Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington against the LSU Tigers at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app with Dave Baker and Stuart Pope on the call.

AU opened the scoring in the third minute as Bri Folds scored her third goal of the season on a knock-down from a chip over the top of the UK back line and deposited it into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

The Tigers doubled their lead in the 14th minute as Kristen Dodson scored the first of her two goals on a counterattack breakaway where the Tigers got in behind the UK defense two on none and slotted it home to Soucie’s right. The third goal was also scored by Dodson, who scored off a long flick-on in midfield, which took an unlucky deflection.
