Edmond, Dusek, Lilley Garner SEC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the ninth time this season, a Kentucky volleyball player won a weekly Southeastern Conference honor. Sophomore Leah Edmond was named Player and Offensive Player of the Week, freshman Madison Lilley won Setter of the Week and senior Ashley Dusek won Defensive Player of the Week for their performances against Arkansas and Georgia last week.
 
Edmond won her third SEC Player of the Week and her eighth and ninth weekly awards of the season, and was also named All-SEC last week. Edmond averaged 6.50 kills per set last week and set a school record in the 25-point rally scoring era with 21 kills in three sets during the match against Arkansas. The Lexington, Kentucky, native committed just three errors and hit a scorching .423 in the two matches. She produced her seventh double-double when Kentucky clinched the SEC title against Georgia on Friday after adding 11 digs to her 15 kills.
 
Edmond’s averaging 4.56 kills per set this season, which is second in the conference and 14th in the nation. She’s produced eight matches with 20 or more kills, with two of those coming in three-set matches.
 
Dusek hauled in her second Defensive Player of the Week honor and her third SEC weekly honor after being named SEC Libero of the Year and All-SEC last week. Dusek recorded her fourth and fifth matches with 20 or more digs last week, including 22 in the sweep of Arkansas on Wednesday. She did not have a reception error in either match.
 
Dusek has double-digit digs in every match she’s started this season and has 76 with 10 or more in her career. The East Bernard, Texas, native is averaging 4.68 digs a set in conference play.
 
Lilley brought home her ninth Setter of the Week award and her 13th award overall after winning SEC Freshman of the Year last week. Lilley recorded 80 assists last week, including 44 in the three set sweep of Arkansas. She helped the Cats hit .348 over the two matches, and guided the Wildcats to 97 kills over six sets. In the SEC Championship clinching win, her 36 assists allowed UK to hit .336.
 
Lilley is averaging 12.12 assists per set this season, the fourth best in the nation and the highest in the SEC. No freshman is averaging more assists per set than Lilley in the country.
 
Kentucky was named a top-four seed in the NCAA Tournament, and will host the first and second rounds of the tournament this weekend. UK will take on East Tennessee State on Friday at 7:30 p.m. inside Memorial Coliseum.
