Kentucky Falls at No. 7 Georgia

by Tim Letcher

Benny Snell, Jr. rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown, but the Kentucky football team lost at No. 7 Georgia 42-13 on Saturday.

Quarterback Stephen Johnson was 12 of 22 through the air for 138 yards, including a spectacular 45-yard connection with Blake Bone.

Kentucky (7-4, 4-4 SEC) scored first in the game, taking advantage of good field position set up by a Josh Allen interception of Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm. The Wildcats took a 3-0 lead on a 37-yard field goal by Austin MacGinnis.

Georgia scored on its next drive with Nick Chubb scoring from eight yards out to make it 7-3 Bulldogs. Kentucky then drove 63 yards in seven plays before settling for another MacGinnis field goal, this one from 35 yards, to cut the lead to 7-6.

The Bulldogs added a pair of touchdowns to lead 21-6 at the half.

Kentucky had the first possession of the second half, and the Wildcats marched 75 yards in eight plays, capped by a Snell touchdown from one yard out, cutting the lead to 21-13. Kentucky would get no closer.

The Wildcats close the regular season by facing archrival Louisville on Saturday at Kroger Field. Kickoff is set for noon ET and the game can be seen on the SEC Network.
