LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky volleyball team and 10th-year head coach Craig Skinner have announced the signing of two highly-ranked players to UK’s 2015 class.

Olivia Dailey, a setter from Trussville, Ala., and Anna Nyberg, an outside hitter from Tomahawk, Wis., will join the Wildcats for the 2015 season. Both are ranked in the top 70 of Prep Volleyball’s “Senior Aces” Top 150.

“Anna and Olivia are the beginning of a fantastic recruiting class for us,” Skinner said. “Both are extremely skilled in their positions and have a lot of talent. Anna and Olivia will help continue to move the program forward with their athletic abilities, and we are excited to have them join the UK family.”

Olivia Dailey comes to Kentucky after earning AAU All-America honors in 2014. Competing for the Southern Performance Volleyball Club, Dailey helped her AAU team to a fifth-place finish at AAU Nationals in the 18 Premier Division. Ranked 43rd in Prep Volleyball’s “Senior Aces,” Dailey was named to the 18’s division JVA All-National Team in 2013. She attends The Cahaba School in Trussville, Ala..

“Olivia is one of the best-trained setters we’ve ever had coming into the program,” Skinner said. “She has the uncanny ability to locate the ball exactly where her hitters need it and has an IQ of the game unlike any player her age. Olivia really sees the game happen before others.”

An AVCA 2014-15 Under Armour Second-Team All-American, Anna Nyberg comes to Lexington after four years competing for Tomahawk High School. On the varsity squad all four seasons, Nyberg is the school record holder after she eclipsed the 2,000 career kill mark this season. She helped the Hatchets advance to the Division 2 Final Four in three seasons, including championship match appearances in 2011 and ’14. Ranked No. 68 in Prep Volleyball’s “Senior Aces,” Nyberg earned All-State First Team honors in 2014. She was named the GNC Player of the Year this season and was a unanimous selection to the GNC All-Conference First Team along with earning Channel 12 Volleyball Player of the Year accolades in 2013.

“Anna is an elite skilled five- tool outside hitter that can execute all facets of the game at a high level for her age,” Skinner said. “She has been a winner in high school her whole career and will add that mentality to Kentucky volleyball next fall.”
