DeWayne Peevy is in his seventh year at the University of Kentucky and his second as the deputy director of athletics.

Peevy, who joined UK in August 2008, plays a prominent role in the day-to-day administration of Kentucky’s 22-sport intercollegiate athletics program, assisting UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart with the direction of the department. Peevy also oversees the men’s basketball program and the K Fund development office.

Upon his hiring, Peevy oversaw both the media relations department and the award-winning Kentucky sports publication department while serving as the primary media contact for the national renowned men’s basketball team.

In 2010, Peevy was promoted to Senior Associate AD for Communication and assumed oversight over the Marketing and Sports Video departments.

During the Spring of 2012, he was promoted to Executive Associate AD for External Operations concluding his time as the primary media contact for men’s basketball while adding supervision of the K Fund development office and men’s basketball liaison duties. He still supervised the media relations, marketing, publications and sports video departments until his promotion to Deputy Athletics Director in 2013.

The Birmingham, Ala., native also served on the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Final Four Media Coordination Committee through the 2013 NCAA Championship and he previously served as the sports information director representative on the board of the United States Basketball Writers Association.

Peevy came to UK after spending eight years at the Southeastern Conference. He was responsible for the day-to-day publicity of SEC men’s basketball. A graduate of the University of Montevallo, Peevy served as the media director of the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament from 2004-08.

Prior to his time at the SEC, Peevy spent nearly three years at his alma mater where he oversaw and handled all media and promotional operations for all nine varsity sports. He received six national publication awards from the College Sports Information Directors of America at Montevallo.

Peevy also served as the assistant information director at the Gulf South Conference from September 1996 to October 1997.

Peevy received his bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from the University of Montevallo in 1996.

He and his wife, Allison, have two children, Kaitlyn, 14, and Braden, 7.
