Cheerleaders Place First in Regionals

The UK Cheerleaders earned a paid bid to the 2008 Universal Cheer Association National Championships by virtue of their first place standing in the South Region.

Entry tapes were submitted to and judged by the UCA. The top teams from each of the four regions were awarded paid bid to the National Championships, being held January 18-20, 2008 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Those teams, which also include Minnesota, Ohio State and Hawaii, will compete one time on the final day of the competition. They will be joined by four at-large squads, all from the South Region. Twelve other invitation teams will compete in the semifinals which take place on the 19th.

The UK Cheerleaders have won the UCA National Championship 15 times, including three of the last four years. Kentucky placed third in the 2007 competition following a run of three straight titles.
