  • Dear Campers,
The University of Kentucky Men’s Golf program has achieved tremendous success over the past few years, and 2005 SEC Coach of the Year Brian Craig and his staff are eager to share the secrets of their success with you! For 2008, UK is offering 2 different, yet distinct, versions of the Wildcat Golf Academy. The Wildcat Golf Academy is our overnight academy, and it truly has something for everybody. A detailed curriculum of practice, play and fun will be incorporated in the camp to maximize learning and enjoyment. Golf activities typically last 9-10 hrs. per day. For the 3rd year, the UK staff will be offering the Wildcat Elite Academy, which is a unique learning experience for high school age students, ages 13 – 18, in the greater Lexington area. This camp is specifically designed for HS boys and girls who are looking for an advanced level camp and who also have a desire to play golf after high school. This will be a day camp only. Both camps will be hosted by the spectacular University Club of Kentucky, and the staff will consist of UK Golf Coaches, other collegiate coaches, and UK Golf team members. Our #1 goal is to create a learning environment where the student can improve and have a great time doing it. We sincerely hope you decide to attend one of our camps and take part in the excitement that is UK Golf!

    - UK Head Coach Brian Craig

    CAMP STAFF

    Brian Craig
The University of Kentucky Head Men’s Golf Coach
Coach Craig is in his 7th year at the helm of UK Men’s Golf, and he continues to take the program to new heights. UK experienced its best year to date in 2005, winning 6 times, including capturing the programs’ first ever SEC Championship. Under Coach Craig, UK competed in the last 4 NCAA Championships, with 3 top 8 finishes in the last 4 years, including a school best fifth place finish in 2006. Prior to UK, Coach Craig spent 2 years at the helm at the University of Central Florida, and prior to that, 2 years at his alma mater, the University of Florida, where he helped lead the Gators to the 1999 SEC Championship. His own playing career includes an appearance in the 1994 US Open as a professional, Academic All-American honors at the collegiate level, and a national championship as a junior. 2005 SEC Coach of the Year Brian Craig is excited to have you attend either the Wildcat Golf Academy or the Wildcat Elite Academy and experience learning, improvement, and a lot of fun!

    David Trainor
The University of Kentucky Asst. Men’s Golf Coach
David Trainor is in his 4th year as assistant coach for the Cats, and has played an instrumental role in the team’s success since his arrival. Prior to UK, Trainor worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at The River Course on Kiawah Island, as well as the Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey, where he was responsible for private and group instruction for the private memberships. Trainor also worked as a senior instructor with the Simon Holmes Golf Academy, training golfers of all skill levels.
