Coming off a championship season and with another top-ranked recruiting class on campus, Kentucky was already at the forefront of college basketball. Now, UK is about to enter the spotlight in unprecedented fashion.

On Friday, ESPN announced that UK will be featured on a new series this fall. All-Access Kentucky will debut this month and will give viewers a never-before-seen look into the program. The show, set to air in 30-minute installments on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. ET,  will premiere on Oct. 17. Two more episodes are scheduled for Oct. 24 and Oct. 31.

The show will follow head coach John Calipari and his players as they prepare for the 2012-13 season. With UK's first open practice opportunity set for Oct. 12, episodes will chronicle the life of the Wildcats from Big Blue Madness through the start of the season.

"Our mission at ESPN is always to serve sports fans and with many new players on the Wildcats this year, there is enormous interest surrounding this team," said Norby Williamson, ESPN's executive vice president of programming and acquisitions.  "All-Access Kentucky gives us an opportunity to deliver something entertaining and unique that helps bring fans closer to a sport they love."

Coach Cal has developed a reputation for quickly molding talented young players into a cohesive unit. This new series will provide an up-close look into the early stages of that process.

"College basketball fans are among the most passionate and dedicated sports fans in the country and they have a strong desire to connect with their team and feel a part of the action," said Jamie Horowitz, ESPN's vice president of original programming and production. "All-Access Kentucky will bring people behind the scenes of this storied program to capture both the joys and the challenges of creating and leading an elite college basketball team."

In addition to the featured weekly shows, ESPN is producing original segments and highlights from the series that will be aired on SportsCenter and other ESPN platforms including and SportsNation.

Knowing Coach Cal and his newest group of players, All-Access Kentucky figures to make for compelling television. Knowing Kentucky fans, the show figures to garner a huge audience too.
