Uniform junkies, today is your kind of day.

On Wednesday morning, Nike announced that Kentucky is one of nine teams selected to wear "the next generation of college basketball design": the Nike Hyper Elite Platinum uniform. The Wildcats will debut the new look for a game against Tennessee on Jan. 31.

UK was chosen to don Nike's "latest and most innovative fit system" because the Wildcats have won a national championship in Nike footwear and apparel. Kentucky joins Arizona, Baylor (women), Duke, Florida, Syracuse, Connecticut (men and women) and North Carolina in wearing the new uniforms for selected games this season.

UK's new look will feature "laser-cut bonded logos, a sharp platinum design as well as prominent accent colors." The uniforms are designed "for superior performance and lower environmental impact" and are five percent lighter than the Nike Hyper Elite uniforms the Wildcats currently wear.

"Nike is committed to producing top-of-the-line performance attire with reduced sacrifice to the environment," said Phil Cook, Nike's Brand Manager for Basketball. "With our Nike Hyper Elite Platinum design, Nike is maintaining its long-standing obligations to our fans to not only produce the best on-court looks but also a design that makes use of the resources we already have."

Those uniforms are horrible. Leave well enough alone.

There is nothing wrong with these uniforms. The problems you have are that some fans that are old fashion and think that the uniforms should be blue and white only. There is nothing with change every now and then. Nobody has seen what they look like on the court. All anyone has seen is some picture in half-lit rooms. Give them a chance they are not perminate. They are an alternate jersey that may be worn only once. What's it gonna hurt. Oh and by the way has anyone heard from the players. Maybe they like them, the players are the ones that are gonna have to wear them in front of all of big blue nation.

I would like to say I am watching the UK vs Tennessee game and I don't care much for the new uniforms . The color has got to go . UK has always been Blue , White . Also the numbers and the names can't be seen that clear . Maybe change the color and make the names and the number readable it will pretty kool looking uniforms .

I BELIEVE THIS IS THE BIG B-L-U-E NATION......
IT HAS A LONG STANDING TRADITION OF BEING SUCH.
SOME TRADITIONS ESTABLISHED BY THOSE WHO HAVE
BEEN OUR MENTORS NEED TO BE PRESERVED !!!!
THIS IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THOSE.

The new uniforms are horrible when trying to watch the game! The gray is too dark and the numbers blend in with the uniforms making them impossible to see on a TV screen. It was extremely difficult to tell who was who. Up close they looked sharp, but they looked awful on the screen (I imagine the fans at Rupp in the upper balcony had a similar problem)... What's wrong with the ones we have? If they must go with the Nike, lighter uniforms, just change the colors :)

I like the colors on the Uniforms but not for our Ky Team.. It is a TRADITION to be BLUE & WHITE. Not grey... I am all for NEW Uniforms but lets keep it in the original colors were all proud of.
