Every Tuesday, UK Athletics recognizes outstanding performances for our student-athletes. These are the honorees for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 27:

Softball: Chanda Bell

Junior Chanda Bell made history in her second no-hitter of her career, this time against Colorado State to begin the Stanford Nike Invitational. Bell allowed just one base runner with a walk, and was a full-count walk away from a perfect game. In the game, she set the UK single-game record with 16 strikeouts - besting her own previous record of 15 she had set four other times. Additionally, in the contest she topped Keary Camunas' for the all-time career strikeout mark at UK. Camunas had 550 career Ks, and Bell has now totaled 577 in her career, in just her third season of play. Bell would go on to record her second career save in 3.0 innings of work to preserve the victory over UC Davis. Finally, Bell earned her second win of the weekend in a relief effort come-from-behind victory over North Dakota State. Bell was the only pitcher to throw in every game played this weekend, and charted 32 strikeouts in 18.0 innings of work for an average of 1.78 strikeouts per inning.
