Outdoor Track & Field Facility
The new University of Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Facility gives the Wildcats one of the premier home tracks in the nation.
Officially opened on October, 5, 2012, the facility provides the UK track and field program with a state-of-the-art training and competition venue.
With grandstand seating for nearly 3,000 spectators, a video scoreboard to go along with a beautiful Meet Administration Building, the UK Track and Field program boasts one of the finest homes in the country and the world.
The UK Track is located on the UK Campus adjacent to the Cliff Hagan Baseball Stadium as well as many more of the UK Athletics Facilities. The facility is outfitted with a world class nine-lane blue synthetic polyurethane track, two dual-directional runways for jumps, as well as ample room for throwing and jumping events. The facility also boasts a practice track runway to make it among the nation's most innovative training sites.
"Our new outdoor track will help us attract some of the best student-athletes in the nation as we aim to compete at the highest levels of intercollegiate competition," Kentucky track and field head coach Edrick Floreal said. "It also will give us the opportunity to host elite outdoor high school and intercollegiate meets, as we currently do indoors at the Nutter Field House."
The Outdoor Facility is built on the site of the former Shively Track, which stood on the UK campus since 1959.
The track scheduled to host the 2014 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
